I've been using foot switches since 1957, with my Viking II and 75A-4. The first one was somewhat crude. IMHO, the Linemaster series of industrial-strength footswitches is the best. Very rugged, but responds to a light touch. Mine gets used a LOT, and I expect it to outlast me!

I've had a Boss FS-5U for many years. Intended for various music applications, sustain for digital piano, triggering sounds, etc. they're very durable and about $29. The chassis is an aluminum extrusion which is keyed so you can attach multiple together.
