Do you have any 5-pole roofing filters? In particular, is your wide filter a 5-pole 2.7 kHz filter or an 8-pole 2.8 kHz filter? The 5-pole filters have an offset, which is written on the filter and which is entered into the firmware with the CONFIG:FLx FRQ menu entry (or by using the K3 Utility).

Before the antenna is connected, the input is unterminated. When that is true the internal noise is anywhere from 20 to 40 dB higher. If you want to view the true level of the internal noise, connect the input of the P3 to a 50 ohm termination. Seeing internal noise on an unterminated high

My experience with panadapters extends into the distant, dusty, past, with Heathkit and earlier analog versions. They are indeed useful, but the coverage needed clearly depends upon the type of operation one does... HF SSB ops probably want a much wider frequency coverage than CW

Dean, The plan for the P3 as I have heard it is to also support the K2 IF, and I cannot recall if the LP-PAN is available with an IF input to match the K2 IF. You would need a buffer amplifier added to your K2 to bring the IF signal out. There is a version of Jack Smith's Z1 buffer
