I would just keep the Astron-35 (I bought one in 1980 and still works). But I upgraded to a Astron-50M years ago and it supplies the entire shack (fused at 30A). I also use a 28v Astron for supplying 24v devices. But Astron makes 8A and 10A switching supplies (we started swapping them out

Hi Jock, For out-of-shack (hotel / office) operations, I use the following PSU Triad WSU150-2400 which is available from Digkey as p/n 237-1409-ND. $20 in unit quantities. I've found this unit to be reasonably RF-quiet, yet small enough to fit in the ammo box I use to transport the KX3.

Dave, Use the 13.8 volt supply. That is close to the typical voltage for a vehicle battery while being charged by the alternator. Most amateur gear is designed for that voltage - and we often refer to it as a 12 volt supply even though it is really 13.8 volts - like we refer to a 12 volt (6
