Tom was nice enough to send me a little circuit to put inside my K2. It
lights the far right hand LED on my S meter to tell me I'm zero-beating
the incoming signal. Ever since I heard of Tom's passing it seems I
look at that lit LED a bit more fondly---that's the kind Ham Tom was.

Looking back at Dayton in 2010 I met Tom personally at the Elecraft booth. I
shook hands with him but got so busy assisting customers at the booth I didn't
have a chance to talk with him. In building my K2 his publications on his web

Tom is taking it easy, resting and recooperating. He is doing OK.

Tom was quite the gentleman to admit a trimming error on the K1
backlight diffusers. But the back story is that Tom volunteered to cut
these for us at no charge, AND wrote those great instructions for us,
AND worked with us to refine the installation -- all on his own time.

Just installed my PLL tuning indicator(SMD Version) from Tom (N0SS) in My
K2.
Being somewhat Tonally challanged, I find zero beating a dream now (as
opposed to tune and guess with the spot function).
I can hear both stations when I change to narrow filters (if they are zero
beat 8-) and life is
