Stan,
I went with the smaller range. As you pick up speed, you will find yourself
migrating to the lower portion of the band. Once you hit 20wpm, a couple of
8 wpm QSO's will use up all of your alloted shack time ( I assume your
married). SOTA usually is not above .061 so your ok there. I have not
Thanks for the help Gil.

You will want the wider range. It will cover the freqs you want on 40m and
also allow you to get to WWV on 30m.

I'm getting to the point I have to choose the frequency range.
I'm pretty new to CW, with about 5 months operating.
My favorite places have been 7.050'ish and 7.115'ish.
I would say 90% of my operating has been there because I'm usually on late
at night.
I'm probably going to be using this rig for
Hi Stan,
I set mine up for 150kHz. I don't find it difficult at all to use, the only
exception being for LSB signals on 40m. Otherwise, no problem. For 15m,
you'll be happy to have the extra bandwidth.

when i built my k1, i set it up for the 150khz range..
looking back at my manual, it says that it is strongly advised to use
the 80khz range..
is it strongly enough advised for me to mod my machine and put it back
to the 80khz range?
thanks!

photographer,
When I built my K1 I built it for 150 KHz tuning. I
wanted more band coverage. It tuned too fast. So I
changed it to about 100 KHz. And now I have it set to
the STRONGLY ADVISED setting.
It is wonderful to have a rig that you can open up and
try some wild idea that you have.

No, that's really bad advice unless you live in an ITU
