Reflector Members,
Those of you using Elecraft TransvertersAre all of you using an A/B
type switch to go from HF to VHF on the K2' transverter hookup?
I was a little surprised to see that to get the Drive RF to the transverters
required the use of an external or separate switch that
Hi
It really does not matter with one exception The KPA100 and 60M option require
removal of the heat sink on the K2. This is not something you want to do many
times because of the possibility of damage to the thermal pads or loss of the
hardware stack on the output transistors. I would

I would never recommend such a device if your a serious VHFr

I think a famous DX record in the UK was claimed by two 28 MHz drivers and

I would only recommend good solid cables and

Yes if you install the KX60M option then the switching is not required on the
antenna because the K2 RF is not required to drive the transverter. The drive
comes from the low level output on the KX60M not the K2 finals. The K2 output
circuit is turned off when the transverter is selected on
Hi Paul,
We also offer the K60XV internal transverter interface option for the K2. It
has a separate low level output for the driving transverters and automatically
switches to that output from the K2's HF output when you select a transverter
band.

Hello all,
Yesterday, 7/5, I took my hiking buddy Trevor, my dog, with me and we
hiked the AT.
No radios, just a conditioning hike for the both of us. We've been
walking 5 miles every other day at home, but I wanted to get back up in
the mountains! This hike starts at the Hamburg, PA Parking Lot
Went through 2 airports (RDU and STL) this weekend. KX1+ ~60ft of 26 ga
wire were in a Rubbermaid container, which I took out of my carry-on and put
in bin to go through the x-ray. One screener asked me if it was an
electronic device. No one opened the Rubbermaid box. I was surprised it
did

Just a little over a year ago I took a trip to England and Ireland for 3
weeks. Had the K2 in my checked luggage, and 2 HT's and a Digital SLR in my
carry-on's. No questions or problems with the radios, however they had to
tear my carry-on apart to look at the camera. It appears that the lenses

AND.. a telescopic pole for antenna setup. The key will be the policy of the
airlines, and then the decision of the specific aircrafts personnel. X-ray
scans will show that it is only fiberglass, and there is no sharp point. But
I recently took a trip and did not take my KX1 because I was
concerned about potential problems at the airports. I would
like to hear about the experiences of others who have
traveled by plane with ham equipment.
I took my K2 to New Zelanad earlier this year, no problem.

Hi, guys.
I took my KX1 to Ft. Myers, FL in February. Had nary a problem. The
KX1 with lithium AA cells, wire antenna, counterpoise, and all
accessories were
in a Pelican case with a clear top. My laptop and shoes got swabbed
for traces of explosives, but the radios (I also had my W32A with
Pierre,
I have learned that all long and/or sharp items should go in checked
baggage. Also, I leave time when going through security so I can go
back down to the ticket counters and check something that security is
concerned about, if need be.
I am amazed that I have seldom been questioned

This is the ARRL Interference site. They have great articles on interference
and link to manufacturers sites, like Ford.
Worth your time.

Anyone tell me if Elecraft are having an extended 4th July Holiday this
year...??
Just wondering...sent mail to them...was'nt too much of hurry for a reply
but the mail was
sent a few days back ...unlike Elecraft not to have answered by now...unless
of prior engagement...
For those of you
Greetings all the staff at Elecraft!
This memo is to Christine (who did it right three times), to Evelyn (who
did it right twice) and to Somerlan who only had a chance to do it once.
Thank You from KX1 # 618 for putting all the little things in the right
bag and envelope. Thank You for

Thank you for the help on the transverters. This evening I removed the AB
switch and made up connectors with RCA's coming off of the 60 meter module
option and BNC on the other end for the Transverters. but now I have
I took my K2 to London in May in a carry-on bag. On the departure,
after running it through the X-Ray machine, they took the bag and ran it
by some sort of scanner without opening it. No problem and it attracted
zero attention on the return flight as well as when boarding the

After I finished installing and playing around with the DSP unit, I

why I am a software guy. It took an hour to build, test, and close out the

Is there

I lost the main drive (160 GB Maxtor) on my Windows
Computer, Windows XP Pro, NTFS. I am looking for recommendations
for a recovery service that will charge me way UNDER $1000 and
do the job right. Please email me directly off list.
