Is there any chance that the QST review for the Transverters can be made
available from the Elecraft web page like some of the other QST revews are?
Not being a member of the ARRL (but of the RSGB), its a little frustrating to
know that these exist but cannot read them!

Hello there friends,
Further to my August 15 message when I asked for help to solve my lack of
power control after having solved my Info 80 problem, I am happy to let
you know that only this morning I have finally fought the dragon to death
and my K2 has overcome its lack of power control.

I had the occassion to take apart the hand held mic that Elecraft carries
(MH-2?) and was really shocked at what I found inside.
Now as a mostly CW guy I really don't have a good appreciation of sound
quality, but I'm finding this thread very interesting.

Any idea when an Elecraft 432 / 440 MHz transverter may be available?
.. yes I know that it requires a different PC board layout than 50, 144
222 MHz transverters.

Hello all,
This weekend 9/4 9/5, I will operate from all the covered bridges in
Berks County, PA. On Saturday I will put on the air three covered
bridges. On Sunday I will activate two more covered bridges. I'll start
on 40m ssb and then go to 20m ssb at each bridge. Remember all contacts

Hi all:
I already own 2 Heil PRO-SET Plus headsets and an older PRO-SET. I don't
want to have to buy an entire new one for my K-2. Is there an adaptor plug
made that enables the PRO-SET Plus to work with a K-2? Alternatively, if I
wire the mike plug on the K-2 to accept, for example, Yaesu
Anyone have any suggestions as to what brand , model of signal generator that
is comparable in popularity as the Hakko 808 desoldering tool? Curious as to
what others use , if they are into signal tracing..
Thanks,

International membership of ARRL is available for US$39. For that price you get
QST, QEX and NCJ electronic copies on an annual CD plus access to the
members-only web site. There is a wealth of information available there, and it
is well worth it in my opinion. Getting hardcopy QST mailed out
I have just completed the assembly of a KAT1 internal auto tuner for my K1.
Everything seems fine so far but I must say I am somewhat unclear how to
properly adjust R2. The manual gives no instructions on the proper setting of

Since you already have a Yaesu adapter, why not change the mike header
in the K2 for Yaesu pin configuration. Otherwise break-out your
soldering iron and make one.

Had one a few months ago, sold it and regretted it. I would like to find
another to throw in the saddlebag on the motorcycle to use on trips. I
prefer the KX1 over the K1 because of the wide receive range for some
general SW listening and 40/20 ssb listening as well. If you have one for

I have obtained a K1 and have a couple of questions regarding the KFL1-4

Considering the state of the solar cycle I'd prefer a board with lower

Ron,
The 4 band board will not work well with 80 meters (it becomes a '3 band
board' due to the low pass filter sharing), but may I suggest that you build
the 4 band board and then add a 2 band board with 80 meters as one band -
the other band can be 17 or 15 meters (the one that is missing
