I just noticed that after I change bands it takes about 6 dits to get full
output. Once it gets there it stays there..no big deal. After I change
bands I hit a quick brrrp of dits and go on my way.
Hitting a single dit each time: The first 3 dits show 0 watts, 4th dit 1

Hi, Jim-
Th reason for the larger enclosure is that a lot of ops prefer to remote the
KPA100 together with the KAT100-2. This of course requires the larger area
afforded by an EC2 external enclosure which can be purchased separately. The
KAT100-2 kit slips inside the lower part of the EC2

One of the best reasons for the larger enclosure is to install the KPA-100
in the same unit as the ATU and keep the K2 with it's battery pack and
internal ATU intact.

There's been mention in the archives of a so-called EC-1.5 possibly being
made available. I'm mainly interested in the KPA-100 to drive my KW but
don't want to keep swapping covers or have to buy the KAT100-2 just to drive

Sorry but after measuring on my K2/100 and one of my transverters that are in
the same case as the KAT100-1 It appears the KPA100 is too big to fit into an

Hi Tom,
In CW mode, the K2's power output level is controlled in firmware. This
allows us to preserve the rig's excellent keying waveform. It can take
a few dits (or one dash, usually) to settle when you change bands.
Most other rigs close the power-control loop using hardware. This can

This sounds an awfully lot like you are asking for the KRC2. In fact
with the right configuration, the KRC2 could easily do this, AND it
already has four buttons to play with. No need to change the K2, just
come up with a specific configuration request for the KRC2!

Check your TX current when set to 10W requested power.
High TX current points to the LPF or output transformer.
Low TX current points to T2 or low drive from the BPF filter.
