NO receive when NOT on transmit.
VERY occasionally I get the my K2 stuck on what seems to be transmit.
If I press the MODE button to select the VOX function the display shows SPCH
0.2
then returns to the frequency display

Hi Dan,
A4 is just a truncated-elements form of 14. Below is G0UKB's
succinct explanation from a posting to our reflector on Nov.
Someone posted about getting a new mic as a gift, and
the desire to make the one mic operate across several
rigs.
This is actually quite do-able if you're handy and
wish to make an adapter as mentioned. I've done this
and was very happy with the results.

In CW jargon:
A is short for 1, as T is short for 0, as N is short for 9, as
R is short for the decimal point.

'A' is the shortened form for '1' on CW, Dan. People who send 5NN
instead of 599 understand all the shortened CW figures (I think!).

You may want to monitor the state of '8R', '8T', and 'MUTE' signals in the
K2 during such occurrances. That may give you a bit of information about
where to begin looking for the source of the problem.

Mike,
Welcome to the reflector. This is the place to ask any questions you may
have about Elecraft equipment and to ask about any possible problems you may
run into while building the K2 (afterwards too). I am certain you will

Sounds like the computer side of the cable needs the CTS signal jumper,
or maybe the computer needs the rts signals turned off.
Also check the 10 uh choke on the kio2. It is easy to open one if you
accidently get a short.
