What a wonderful idea… I’m thinking about adding a Pi to my shack/field kit to
handle a number of chores without needing a larger computer.

Hi Rich and the reflector…
I use a Wolf River Coils mini with the large whip (210in I think) for portable
ops. It came with three radials.
After reading Rudy Severns’ articles, I built a set of 16+- ft radials (total
of 18 - 3ea of 6 into 1) for the unit. I have only anecdotal evidence, but I

Hi Ken,
You are correct… an excellent way to learn is the Koch method with the
Farnsworth spacing. Characters are typically formed at 20wpm and then space
increase to get the speed down to something copyable. That gives good sound and
an adjustable pace.

I wonder if the tripod mount would work to hold the T1, AX1, run a counterpoise
or two from the mount, and then a cable to the radio?
Any thoughts?

Morning Wayne,
From one writer to another, that was a very nice piece! Like Elecraft radios,
it was well-crafted and had just the right amount of “stuff.”
I’ve been a ham for a little more than a year. I’ve worked quite a few stations
using FT8 — because that is about all I can do here at the

If anyone has a kit that is no longer needed, I would be interested. Please

While working the 13 Colonies event, I found I had three of the 13 stations

GA all,
I’ve turned this outfit in so many times I can no longer count. I don’t know
how these keep getting through fleaBay, but they do.
Be careful out there. I will generally not buy radio gear if a callsign is not
present in the description and/or photographs.
