I got really excited when the K3 turned up in the post. I suppose you cannot
imagine the look on my face when I opened it all up and lifted all the
contents onto the bench in the shack and discovered that my K3 arrived
without a microphone.
I know, read the order form fully next time.
aaah..but I wanted to go portable (as in the outback) for a week to 10 days
and I did not plan on ordering a desk mic right now.
Speaking of which, has anyone had any problems getting Heil to respond to an
e-mail request regading a mic and ordering?

Well I did the download last night and I never ever thought that I could do
this without my fingers getting out of sync with what little grey matter I
had left. But, to my absolute surprise, it worked a treat. Thanks Elecraft
for sending me a superb radio even I can use.
I have adjusted the RX EQ to alter the sound of the audio and in particular
when using the 1.0Khz filter.
I have now achieved a somewhat rich tone (to my poor old ears) that is
pleasant to listen too. I had no idea just how good I could make it when
using the 1.0Khz filter on ssb when I started

signals are not even very strong (S5-7) without having Notch, NR, NB or wide
filter active and AGC is on slow.

anywhere near exceptional. To the contrary, I think they are pretty ordinary
and for the price?...H, glad I had the good sense to get the K3.

I have been using the K3 on PSK31 and I suspect the K3 is set for 19200
kbs, if so, I am guessing this is why the utility program cannot connect?

I am always portable and for a quick antenna when portable, if you
have a vehicle mounted antenna with RG8/59 connected to it, just
remove the antenna and attach a long wire and throw that up into the
trees...the K3 ATU handles mine just fine..80-10M.
