SAME HERE,
I RUN MY KPA-500 IN FSK AT 270 WATTS OUT INTO A 1:1 SWR AS NCS OF THE RATTS RTTY
NET. DURING THE LONG PREAMBLE AND ENDING MESSAGE MY TEMP GETS UP TO 70 AND
SOMETIMES 73 DEG C. THE FAN ROARS LOUDLY AFTER 70 DEG IS REACHED. I HAVE AN
ADDITIONAL FAN BEHIND THE FAN IN K3 TO ASSIST
First problem with my K3 in five years. I have no MENU or CONFIG display.
NADA... I have an ERR KEY display.
I reloaded the latest Software via the K3 utility program, including the
DSP. I did not see anything wrong in the CONFIGURATION file.
The utiliuty program says the down load was
HELP
What the other guys said, in different words:
Turn off the K3.
Unplug the DB-9 on the back of the K3, also unplug the key and
paddle.
Turn on the K3, and go to config PTT - KEY. Make sure it says
OFF - OFF.

(that I have tried) Elecraft has a great design, great documentation,
and great customer service. I had my missing part in three days.
