I had the same problem with a ts-850 and a Heathkit HL-2200(SB-221 same

Some tube amps(especialy Heath kits) have to be modified for proper
operation.
Tube amps may present as much as a 2:1 SWR to a transistor final rig.
With a tube rig, this is compensated for by the final

Just rechecked, The first Xtal filter 6KHZ WIDE. tHE IST IF IS 2 POLE IN THE
TR-7. 4 POLE IN THE R-7a but it is 4 pole and not DOES NT HAVE STEEP SKIRTS.
The TR-7 uses 2 MONLITHICS AND TIGHT L/C AND HIGH Q (sounds like the K2)I.
That is why you can use a 10K resistor instead of the 8KHZ.
Cleaver is very correct. I like how the AGC is derived from an aux 2nd IF of
150KHZ.
The AGC is smooth and almost pumpless.
I found out the K2's DSP is audio, because they did not want to go to 32
bit processing.
However the excellent front end anf IF of the K2 will tax a DSP less

True, one cannot use a 16 foot whip on the exact center of the car for the
best omni directional performance.
Some swear by a 7 foot whip that has a load coil in the middle.
Should you go fiber glass or metal whip. One

You look at the TS-870, 746pro, and many other DSP rigs all make the same
stupid design flaw.
Dual conversion DSP! No multiple pole xtal filter.
No computer algorythm can emulate a multipe pole IF filter. These are your
$2000-$3000 rigs
The TS-850 had dual xtal IFs. However there was
I Like how small the PC Board is. Would it fit into a K2?
I was going to buy the LDZ's microtuner. However the ad and reviews indicate
that that tuner would stop at a 1;1.5 SWR OR EVEN 2:1.
The new external elekraft did promise true 1:1 SWR.
I was surprised that assembled VS kit is $20. I
I use my K2 on CW and SSB. I was wondering how K2 Hams would feel about
different
grades of SSB adapters.
For $89 the SSB board certainly gives you the most bang for the buck.
I see a 2.6khz up grade option is offered.
I am working on a true RF proc. I may have to buy a second SSB

I thaught POLYmerized Lithium ion had the highest Watt-Hr/mass ratio.
I have seen laptop batts that are 72watt-hour @14V. The individual cells

I was able to fit a 60watt-Hr 14V batt inside a K2.
I had a few idea's for adding some circuits/other filters on a k2 SSB board.

I am still on the fence on doing the wider SSB mode. Has anybody done it and

I bet a cup of coffee it is a K2 like rig. It will cover 160-6M standard.

My main interest was the SSB audio differences between lets say the first

My K2 has the 2nd latest chip set in it. It is a 3200 s/n. I have been using

prudent to get the PC interface. That is the way one
