I finished assembling my KX-3 late last night, and started playing this
morning. My first contact was checking into the OHANA Net (Hawaii). I was
given a report of 4-1, which seems pretty good for a trip of 2,686 miles on
12 watts! The surprising part, is that I have the radio transmitting into

Sorry my friend. You need to pick better frequency/time pairs or
improve your antenna.
There are a number of us over on the East Coast who are getting Q5
reports with just 5 Watts. Check out NA1DX's page. But seriously, do not
be surprised at what you can work QRP. When
