I am a newbie with HDSDR and omni ... I got the panaramic display working but
the received signals
are displayed 12 kHz off of where they should be. The frequency of the LO and
KX3 tuning are displayed
in the correct position on the display.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Today (3/26/2013) K3WWP and I did some extensive testing and checking on how
to get HDSDR to cooperate with my laptop. After plenty of frustration we
accidentally found that the external sound card I was trying to use (has a
line in jack) loaded a extra soundcard driver that works with the mic
Mine does.

Hi Reggie,
Yes that is possible with VE3NEA's free OmniRig program.
dxatlas.com/omnirig/
Mario has written a howto on his page as well, which can be downloaded
as a PDF.

It doesn't work very well for me, on Windows 8. Omnirig talks to the KX3, no problem, as verified by
running the Omnirig client. But HSDR stops talking to Omnirig after a few minutes. Nothing but a
reboot fixes it. Makes HSDR unusable for me.

Hello Reggie -
Not the waterfall, but position your mouse on the spectral display (the
display below the waterfall). A red line will appear. Move your mouse
left or right to the frequency you require and left click. You should
find that the KX3 changes to that frequency.

Has anyone with a KX3 successfully interfaced the HDSDR program to be able to
use it for control and spectrum display? Not having much luck here. My laptop
does have a very good integrated stereo soundcard with selectable stereo
line-in or mono microphone and an available 96K sample rate.
Jim,
I was able to make it work. I have an E-MU-0202 card capable of
192KHz, but I only use 48KHz as I like the definition better.
I was unaware of any internal laptop sound cards that will run at
greater than 48 KHz. If your sound card input is stereo, I suggest you
try 48KHz and
If you are speaking about the stereo *input* configuration of a standard
laptop chip (realtek or other), please explain with more details, I am
interested.
I have tested some USB sticks you can find on Ebay, but did not find one
with a stereo input.
What I am looking for is the one that Eric
I found out that on my laptop the sound is configured as mono but can be
changed to stereo after quite a few configurations changes.

I connected KX3 to a laptop and ran HDSDR. It appears that sideband are not
distinguished as during tuning some signals move left and some move right.
Also no movement on phase pictures.
I checked that the cable is stereo. No Omni-Rig yet.
Any idea?

What cables?
I tried to adjust amplitude/phase on the laptop to eliminate the other
sideband. No effect. Perhaps teh card does not work in stereo although the
card setup indicated that it is capable. Then moved to desktop. The
adjustments worked. However, there is lots of noise +-5Khz from the

The cable may be stereo, but mic input for the laptop may be mono. At
least that's the case with many laptops. If so, you'll have to get an
outboard sound module.

It is a rare built-in laptop sound card that has a stereo input. They
are almost always mono mic inputs (except for some Apple laptops).
