God I hope not.  I know the manual says 35ma in Receive, 40ma max w/
headphones.  I was hoping that was just an average, because I have 42.1 with
the Freq Readout illuminated and 39 ma when the Freq lights are not
illuminated, regardless of wether the headphones are plugged in or not.

Ok, now that I have gotten replacement toroids from the Toroid guy (fast
service by the way) I am on page 47, receiver drain is 36.7 ma is this in
the range of considerable high, or just in the range of average.
I do have a fairly high general noise level here :/
