In cleaning out the office I came upon these units, three pieces of Coherent Communications Corp FSM-86B LSI Subset, a device which allows piggy-backing a data channel over a phone line, stealing a bit of bandwidth at about 2800 Hz. You can key in using +/- 3V to +/- 25V (so can run a telex over it), or signal via RS-232 or RS-422/423. Maximum data speed is 600 bps.
I used these for a number of years to extend a telex circuit (remember them!) over my phone line on a filled cable with no spare pairs in a foreign country. There are two units to make a pair (one at each end) and a spare. Probably not many people have a telex any more, but these units can work fine to extend any kind of low-speed data over a voice channel. Offers? (If not, suggestions where I can flog to find someone in need?) Thanks for all advice.
