Hello
I want to ask about home made spindle belt drive.
I look and found spindle with CAT 30 made in China but also in China for $
1500. It looks good but too heavy for my application cutting wood
plastic. Is there is some simple spindle on 2 or 3 bearings belt drive?
I know about Colombo
I compiled v2.3.4 again. This is the output:
http://www.emrah.com/files/session.log
There are some warnings like:
/usr/realtime/include/rtai_lxrt.h:612: warning: ‘rtai_lxrt’ is static
but used in inline function ‘rt_get_adr’ which is not static
Does this cause the problem?
This is 2.6.30.5
The warnings are related to the newer gcc 4.3.2 and can be fixed by
configuring RTAI for eager inline (extended config in the first
menuconfig window).
from https://mail.rtai.org/pipermail/rtai/2009-February/021007.html
Maybe that fixes the bug too?
Regards,
Alex

Would R8 work? You can buy replacement/conversion spindles in R8 and
MT3 for the Mini Mill.

A minor segue from Seb's topic, since he mentioned the 32 bit
packages below - 64 bit PCs are becoming ever more available, and
coming down in price. Have we thought about 64 bit builds of
EMC2? What about 64 bit RTAI? Non-SMP of course... ;-)

This is only in git. It's not in any of the released version tarballs.

2.6.30.5-rtai hits a kernel BUG when ctrl_type= is specified.
Investigation of in-kernel users of module_param_array(charp) implies
that they all use zero'd out arrays, in contrast to our initialized array.
the BUG is that param_set_charp attempts to kfree the old value.

Thanks Andy,
I will give it a go in a little bit. What you are saying
makes perfect sense to me and should work with no issues. Will let you know
either way.

Nice... Thanks!

I just made some changes in 'master' to easily add menu items for
run-in-place compiles. After 'make', you can 'make install-menu' and
two menu items EMC2 (run-in-place) and Latency Test (run-in-place)
will be available under Applications CNC.
