Hi Gene Power thru the rings seems easy enough to do, but shipping the encoder back thru adjacent slip rings would seem to be to subject to a huge amount of interference from the servo motors cummutation noises. One way to rid of this is to use optical transmission, so rings of acrylic

Hi Tomaz Does anyone here have any experiences with slip ring components? Well, I don't have any personal experience, but I recently spent some time reading about the subject as I wanted to use slip-rings in a project (unfortunately it was canceled) to transmit 100 Mbit Ethernet and power).

Hi, Does anyone here have any experiences with slip ring components? I'm thinking to use it to make one of my rotating axes limitless, but I would need to lead trough this device encoder and limit switch signals and also power lines for one servo and spindle...I'm a bit worried about encoder

Limitless rotary axes are not really limitless. My bridge 5 axis with Fanuc 15mb will rotate 9,999.999 degrees before the register overflows. I realize LinuxCNC will not have this small limit. For most things 9,999.999 degrees equates to limitless. LinuxCNC would be 'limitless' in more situations.
