Comodo should be avoided - they don't own their own root, and the company that does is possibly unstable; they're also implicated in spam campaigns on Thawte's customers, presumably to keep themselves afloat; they're the only CA not WebTrust certified. FreeSSL.com and Bob's $25 suggestion
