[eug-lug]xmms mp3 problem

Well I used bladeenc to change wav files to mp3, but I inadvertently used it to mp3 some mp3 files. Now when I use xmms to play them I can see xmms working with the graph showing a nice audio wave, but I hear only white noise! What is going on? TIA, Dirk
