OK - I did this, and closed and re-opened Outlook, and it just sat and
spun the mouse pointer. I couldn't do *anything* with Outlook except
kill it.
So I uninstalled Office, rebooted and reinstalled it, and then again
checked the box to disable using hardware graphics acceleration. This
happened
That just moved to the top of my list.

That's definitely an interesting thought.
The machine is a spanking new Lenovo 460S, so it's possible our
deployment doesn't have the exact driver needed.
I'll check on that.

My gut says video issue - especially since moving the window makes it
visible again. It sounds familiar to issues where [typically] on-board
