In the 8.1 beta, you can choose between ext3, reiser, and IIRC, xfs.

Your font server (xfs) is not running. Make sure that xfs is started,

know the password, you should be able to drop to a console
[CTRL]-[ALT]-[F1] and from there, you can log in as root, and kill the
screensaver process. That's the brute force approach.

IIRC, Konsole sets xterm as your TERM environment variable. You might try
this:
'export TERM=linux'
Then fire up mutt and see what happens.

Are you running portsentry, or any other type of IDS? Porsentry, IIRC,
will dump ip's of breakin attempts to hosts.deny.

Yes, you can choose the FS you want in setup.
If your SuSE is already on reiserfs, you're OK, but more like as not, it
is ext2, so you will have to re-format all your partitions.

Probably the most popular browsers are Opera, Netscape 4.x, Konqueror,
Galeon (which is based on mozilla's gecko html rendering engine), and
Mozilla -- not necessarily in that order. There are probably others, but I
think these are the best-known.

I haven't touched iptables yet, and as I understand the situation, there
are still some potential security problems with iptables, so you may
want to steer clear for now.
Once you get the kernel rebuilt, have a look at the Firewall HOWTO to
get started with ipchains.

Mandrax does seem to be behaving rather badly. I don't know postfix and
sympa well enough, but I strongly suspect that one of them is doing some
re-writing on the outbound mails.
I had a post this morning that didn't show back up in my inbox for 2-3
hours, and a couple of others got intercepted
a POP3 or IMAP server running on your
Linux box. Then you can set up Netscape to retrieve mail from any account
that you like.
Incidentally, you should alias root to a regular user account, so that you
aren't transmitting the root password to check root's mail.
