I had a similar prob with 8.1 and my scsi scanner.
Seemed due to devfs. I changed /etc/lilo.conf
devfs=mount to devfs=nomount. Rebooted, let MDK
refind the scanner via kudzu, then changed the
lilo.conf back to devfs=mount and reran lilo again
then Rebooted. All was fine -- still.
Seems devfs

Has anyone installed 8.0 with the G450 video card. If so did you need the Matrox

I have recently installed RC-1 on my Toshiba laptop. Mandrake sees my internal Xircom

Your partitions may have changed.
Try mounting different partitions, looking for boot.
# mount -t ext2
I was checking the sites this morning and noticed all the beta download sites have
8.0 beta 3 with the exception of one that has rc-1. I forget which site it was though.
IS there a RC-1 release now, and if so what is different between rc-1 and beta?
The rc-1 is dated I think 4/8/01 whereas beta 3

For my SB Live, and Mdk 8.0b2 I had to change the
perms on mpg123, and for kde sounds enter play
in the use external player field in kde's
control center. Xmms is using OSS driver entry.

That happened with 2.0. I believe I changed the settings of the clock
(of all things) and it corrected it. Sounds like you have LED Font
style. Check the font settings.

I didn't think PCI devices cared about sharing
IRQ's, and that was it's stronghold. I know my
