Hi Anne, first thing to do - is to not boot into X... So - The Failsafe Option is a first part. Just - at the Lilo prompt - give: init 3 in - it should start the system without X. The Problem - is that you most probably need to start with an empty XF86Config-4 file - as the XFDrake programm

I was surprised to see that my Viewsonic A110 monitor wasn't listed in the common settings. I thought it was a very common monitor. ?? Even Redmon linux has it. ?? I had this same problem You had a couple of years ago. It was pretty common to have a monitor that didn't have preset info in it.
