Hello
i am still having trouble with this Mandrake setup.
I am attempting to setup IP Masqurading through IP Chains .
I have had this configuration previously running on a RH 5 box, and decided
to upgrade.
I have used the PMFirewall program to create the firewall and
masqurading rules.
I am in the process of settting up a site with about 6 - LM72
computers. I would like to set up a password database to reduce the
adminstration of maintaining individual password files on each machine.
Is this posssible, and where can I find more information on this?
Darcy
I am hoping that you can assist me with this.
I am attempting to connect a SCO unix remote printer que to a local
printer on a mandrake box. I have configured and successfully tested
the printer under CUPS, but when I attempt to locate the remote printer
on the SCO box, it is unable to
needs to be as simple as possible, to prevent the user from
messing it up
Thank you

Yes, I did ensure that I added the users to the shutdown group. Sill does not
work

, it works for me, YMMV. Hey, even if this doesn't help you a
bit, I think it's pretty cool and felt like showing it off anyway :-)
Plus, it may help someone else.

Got adsl yesterday and managed the setup. though not using draknet. I
tried draknet first but it did not work. Then I ran adsl-setup and added
a defaultroute in adsl-start. Now it works like a charm.
Problem is, 11 (my provider) cuts the link after 15 minutes
of
a set UID to root, so that it will always run as root, no
matter who launches. Then control execute permission with the group as
you're trying to do.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I did finally set the halt and shutdown

I believe that you are over-trusting your local users. 'halt

I ran into a simular problem with my LM80 install. I found a link
from /etc/localtime to /usr/share/zoneinfo/EST I deleted the original
link, and re-created the link to the correct timezone, and it has been
fine for sometime now (I believe that was about 14 months ago)

I am trying to configure a linux box to be a firewall / masqurading
machine for access to the internet through a cable modem. eth0 is the
external nic card (ip supplied by isp via dhcp), and eth1 is the
internal network (using the 192.168.1.0 class C group). These are
communicating properly.

A word of caution with the rtl8139. They work well with Mandrake 7.2, but the
drivers that are available at this time for the rtl8139 cards do not work with
Mandrake 8.0, and i have been unable to locate any drivers for the rtl8139
cards that will work in LM80.

That would work, however, that would open the box totally to the
outside. To open only 1 port, to a specific IP address, try this
$IPTABLES -A INPUT -i (network interface where connection coming into
computer) -p tcp -s (IP of remote computer requiring access) --sport
(port # as
yes

In Netscape (and Mozilla, I believe), you can delete the saved
passwords by going into Edit - Preferences - Privacy Security
-Passwords - Manage Passwords
Locate the password that you want to delete, and delete it
