A completed-in-1999, 6-minute short animation began by Salvador and Walt in 1946. An 18-second portion of the film, right near the end, was the only actual work done at that time. The rest was done from storyboards, sketches and the input from one of the chief animators whose job it was to work with Disney and Dali.
