Re: [farsiweb]Farsi TEXT TV`?

2002-09-30 Thread Sina Ahmadian

Farhad,

One of my close families was the manager of the english section of Iranian
Teletext in IRIB. I know they have ordered one of the foreign TV
manufactures to design the Farsi teletext system, But I don't know anything
about the details. I will ask him and send more details about that project
ASAP.

Farhad,

I don't know about any of the details, but there is already Persian
TV teletext in many of the TV boxes made in Iran. Even our SAMSUNG TV
which is supposed to be manufactured in Korea supports that. And I guess
there are also many Persian TV brands that support it.

Anyone who can provide more details on the protocol, charset, etc? I'm
sure there are mailing list members who are IRIB employees.

  Hi,
I am not sure if it is the right place to ask for this quyestion ot not,
but this is the only group that I am aware of so I give it a try.

I am working on a home project to make a Farsi TEXT TV hardware and
software, both for sending and receiving. The sender is the part that the
TV broadcaster will use, and the receiver is the part that will be used
on
  every TV set.

Those of you who live in Europe are well familiar with the function (one
of
the things I miss a lot while in the US). I used to use it every day
while
I was in Sweden and wrote the specification for the project long time
ago,
but never had time to do the actual design until now.

Philips, the main producer of TEXT TV components, have a standard for
Arabic Text TV, but nothing for Farsi my suggestion is to have a code
page
that is very similar to the one that is used on ISIRI standard for
inter-application system (previous to the Unicode standard).

Does anyone know any company in Iran or abroad who is working on a
similar
project and willing to participate in beta testing of my chip/board?

The board can also be used to add subtitle to foreign movies, that makes
it easier for foreign movies to get into Iranian market than it is today
when you need to have large group of sound engineers and dub:ers to
  Dub the movie.

The chip design is done, and it is working perfectly in simulation, right
now I am designing the test board, and that will be ready in a week or 2
and 2 weeks after that the first prototype will be ready, I think I can
make my first field test before January 2003.

I haven't been in Iran for many years and don't know if Text TV is
available in Iran or not, and if it is, is it suportet by IRTV or not?
But
I did the project just for fun, and I would be more than happy to share
it
with others as soon as the final test is done, I will add the
functionality
as a downloadable IP core on http://www.freeip.org

  Any help is highly appreciated,

  Farhad A.

[farsiweb] Penglish-Persian Convertor

2003-06-13 Thread Sina Ahmadian
Hey, take a look at
http://www.bitaweb.com/fa/BitaWeb_BitaWeb_BitaWeb/farsiNegar.php .
This is a Penglish-Persian convertor. I tested it right now. Except some
small problems, it works fine. It converts about 90% of the text
successfully.
What do you think about this project? Can it be useful to prevent or reduce
using Penglish instead of the correct form of Persian texts?

Best regards,
Sina Ahmadian

Converting 1256 to UTF-8 ASP

2003-07-05 Thread Sina Ahmadian
Hi

I have an Access database which contains 1256 (Arabic) data.
I whould like to know how can I convert the arabic strings to utf-8 in ASP?
I tried Chilkat Charset component, but I think it doesn't do the
conversation job correctly. Do you know any other way with or without
components?

thanks,

please help! HTML Numeric Characters

2003-07-10 Thread Sina Ahmadian
Hi

How can I convert HTML Unicode Numeric Characters like #1504; to their
simple unicode form using VB/ASP?
You can found two PHP functions for encoding and decoding these numeric
characters, in the following addresses. I want the same thing but in VB or
VBScript:

http://marty.anstey.ca/programming/php/function.mb-encode-numericentity.html
http://marty.anstey.ca/programming/php/function.mb-decode-numericentity.html
Thanks,
