it was not.
ok, this is just to let you know that my problems were indeed caused
by a bug in that samba packages (3.2.0-2.17.fc9).
I upgraded samba packages when version
boss will kill me... all was working with winXP, but I always
tried to convince him that linux is better :°(

so I thought that if I would set security=share, and set guest
only=yes in the share, I could have connect to that share from
everywhere and as everyone... unfortunately it isn't so on fedora,
while it is so on my home pc :(

for backup purposes well, and
that the win98 host could print to the samsung printer attached to
the fedora box, but this is already working (is the only working
thing in this samba installation).

I disabled selinux putting it in permissive mode, do you think it
could be of any help if I boot with selinux=0?

ehm, maybe it will not be necessary, because win98 is able to print
using the printer installed
, nor I can mount it with
mount -t cifs //greco/Ufficio2 /mnt/win98; it says mount error
112 = Host is down, but the share name is indeed //greco/Ufficio2,
and smbclient -L greco confirms it.
I'm lost :(
