I switched succesfully the Backing-store option on for my X-server
It works fine when the window is obscured by another one and then brought
back into focus.
However when changing workspace and back, the window contains rubish from

I am not sure, but judging by the name, it sounds
I suspect that the intel driver has a bug.
... and switching to an ATI 2600PRO card and using the radeonhd driver
seems to have fixed the problem.
So I'd say the intel driver has a bug.
