I work at a shelter in NJ and recently received a 4 1/2 year old cat who tested positive...twice by snap test, once neg by snap test. We have sent blood out for an IFA. Supposedly this cat was never let outside and they had him since he was a kitten.
What is the liklihood that he is truly positive? Wouldn't he have gotten sick by now? What if he received a FeLV vax as a kitten?
He is very sweet and friendly. I am hoping to find a foster home for him. The shelter will help with his medical expenses, if he ever does get sick.
Any help, suggestions, or info regarding the accuracy of snap tests vs IFA would be appreciated.
of course you have my permission to repost anywhere you can. i just want to find a place for this guy, especially because he is so loveable and affectionate. i can be contacted directly at
sammjess616@yahoo.com, or people can go to my shelter website to see him posted there as well, www.rbari.org.
