Lisa, I have a cat who was diagnosed w/stomatitis. She had stopped eating a
few different times and would cry sometimes when she ate. The vet didn't
recommend a teeth cleaning because of her age. I started giving her
Petzlife oral gel twice a day for at least a month -- just rubbed it on her

I battled Stomatitis - -inflamation in the mouth- with one of my FeLV kitties -
also named Tom . He would would run from his food bowl in pain because it hurt
to eat. We used antibiotics steroids.
I'm not saying that's what this is, but I would think they would use the same
treatment.
Lisa, didn't the vet Rx anything for the mouth ulcer. Sucralfate is commonly
Rx'd for stomach ulcers in cats. I'm guessing it would also work for mouth

Other issues you need to address are nausea and pain.
I've used it for mouth ulcers and mouth problems in cats , but it's been a
while.. Worked pretty well as I recall.
