That's the patch, right? I've had them with a couple of my animals. I think you have to be careful with the amount of med used with them. I ended up taking the patches off long before the recommended time. They made my guys dopey. Zevon seemed down right sick from his. I put them on oral pain

hematomas are usually not a big deal, and are easily lanced and drained. The only thing that is difficult with cats with hematomas is that you should place a pressure bandage on the ear, after it is packed with a roll of gauze, then tape the ear down on the roll, and wrap the head with bandages

Actually, sewing a large button onto it probably would work to keep it from refilling (by applying pressure across the width of the ear). It wouldn't keep it a smooth flap, but it should stop the hematoma from reoccurring. Brilliant idea, actually. I read all the books, loved them. I missed that
