[Felvtalk] Make certain

2017-04-12 Thread Jennifer Olson
Dear Bob,
If you want to be sure Jelly is in your loving, comforting, protective
arms- and not suffering, alone
You can take Jelly in to the vet's, be WITH him, and set him free.
My heart is hurting so much for you.
Praying for you both-

2017-04-12 Thread dlgegg
You are so right. I have been with all my babies at the end and I know it made
me feel much better knowing that if they needed me, I was there. And yes, they
do know you are there and love them. Usually they take hold of me with their
paws and hold on. I think it makes them feel more secure in those last moments.

sense our presence when they are this ill and close to the end of their
lives but I know it made ME feel better to be with my guys holding them
for as many hours as I could while they were near the end.  I hope
you , too, are able to be physically connected to your little Mo when he
leaves his little body..   I am comforted for Mo that he has you

Mo's appetite hasn't improved and this morning I found him in my
daughter's room laying in a puddle of his own urine. I gave him his
buprenorphine but I am done forcing meds on this angel beyond comfort
care.

We were going to see the vet today for bloodwork, but I don't really
see
the point now. Perhaps if we had tried these meds when he first
started
slipping it would have helped him. At least I am armed with this
knowledge

for Violet.

My heart is breaking. This is all so unfair.

There is no better ending for our little friends than to die in the
arms of those who loved them... and no better ending for us as
well.
Mo deserves to not have his end be a repetition of his beginnings...I
realize that I am not the most objective fellow in the world at the
moment but ,having had my little yogi die with me holding him ...
passing quietly and peacefully was a comfort for me. No quess
workhether it was the right time. No yanking him from his home, to be
put in a carrier and exposed to a stressful car ride.. placed on a
metal table to meet his end in a strange place. Whenever possible this
IS the way to go

[Felvtalk] Mobil vet

2017-04-12 Thread Jennifer Olson
AWESOME ! ! ! There should be MORE of them.
I'd pay the extra "convenience" fees, to protect my fur-babies from the
stress of going in.
The comfort felt of being at HOME !
I think if we approach our vets with the idea, and a waiver because of
concerns of being sued, this could really catch on!

Re: [Felvtalk] Holding on... & letting go

2017-04-12 Thread kat

Jen,

I agree, being there with them helps - both them & us, no matter where this happens (home or at the vet's office).

I have found a caring, local mobile vet who will come to the house when it is time to let them go, instead of having to take my kitties for their 'last car ride' vet visit.  I also ask the vet to give a quick acting tranquilizer first for my more skittish/scardey-cats, which definitely helps them to relax before helping them let go.

I have been allowed to hold both of my cats & 1 for my sister as they were "put down". Using a towel around their lower half to catch anything excreted when they leave their body helps.
Be your & your baby's best advocate when the time comes.

My heart hurts for yours,

[Felvtalk] So Sad that Jelly has made his transition

2017-04-12 Thread kat
Dear Bob,

I am so sorry Jelly crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge early Monday morning.

Please know that you gave him all of your love while you could.  I know the pain of feeling guilty that I had waited too long too, but there is no clear 'sign' for us to know when it is time to assist them in their crossing. That is the most difficult part - not wanting them to suffer but hoping they will have one more good day.  My heart aches for you.

Sleep Soft, Dear Jelly...

Re: [Felvtalk] Holding on...

2017-04-12 Thread Sheri Burbridge
I have done this too, but I'm really hoping Mo can pass at home. His whole
life was meds and surgeries and needles and clinics and shelters, I don't
want his last moments to be the same.

He left my bed in the night and had an accident on the floor. I have laid
potty pads on his spot and put him there after. He's resting comfortably
for now.

I have to work this morning. It is killing me to leave him alone. I will at
least be out by lunchtime to spend the rest of the day with him. It's so
difficult to smile and focus on my patients when all I want is to be home
for him.

I have another round of Buprenorphine waiting at the vet. My only goal is
to make him comfortable until he goes.

I appreciate all of you. These emails have been so comforting and kind,
they mean so much to me right now, thank you.

Sheri
