Summer is almost over here in northern lower Michigan. Some trees are

When I say I wear my handspun socks every day, that's what I mean, and
it's one pair of socks :) I gave away the other pair of short handspun
socks to my sister, but wore those daily before then as well. Both
pairs, though spun with a 15 degree twist angle, wore very well--neither
I bought a pair of slipper soles, assuming they had fleece on the
inside, but they didn't--plain leather. I was originally planning to
pick up stitches around the edge and knit up a warm sock, but I want
some wool under my feet, too. Has anyone made a pair like that? All I

The skies have been gray for weeks without end here in northern lower
Michigan--typical for the late fall/early winter, we often don't have
much sun until well into January. Yesterday I was trying to work on a
project requiring subtle changes from cool to warm blues, and not having

student told me. She'd been to Australia, to one of the wool research
stations there. They said the best way to tell if a given fiber would
be comfortable for a given person was to lay the fiber on the inside of
the wrist and

What I keep in mind in essential oils is that they're real--they come
from real plants. Fragrance oils are much cheaper because they're
synthetic. Fragrance oils will frequently give me headaches, while the
same scent in the essential oil usually won't. I know some folks hold

To me, the difference between art and craft is that craft is primarily
intended to be useful and useable, while art isn't (or its primary use
is just to be viewed).
(Of course, this raises an interesting issue--is a
Notices for inclusion in the November workshop FAQ are due October
31st. Please limit to 10 lines, including name of the event, cost to
attend, location, date and time, contact information, what it's about,
etc.
