I don't know, because the only broken URLs I've encountered have been
Mac-originated.

Of course that's not even close to definitive. But it might be for a few
reasonable actions: Macs had the advantage of long filenames that included
spaces well before Windows; and 8.3-"style" filenames ("style" meaning
without spaces, even if they were longer) are common practice even after
long filenames were actually permitted under Windows. My composer colleague
David still can't get out of the 8.3 habit, and he's not a computer guy. He
just sticks with what he first learned.

Also, many websites (MP3.com is one) and site-building applications
automatically substitute underscores for spaces; I have no idea if Mac apps
do this, but something must be letting the unescaped spaces get through. In
theory, both platforms can create this sort of issue; in my experience,
it's Mac-originated sites that actually do it.

I'm certain I could find Windows-created sites with this problem; I just
haven't come across any. Is that not your experience also?
