Yes, I've got two zero-length files for gunzip and gzip. I just saw the
message from Alexander about problems in upgrading tar. Looks to be the
problem I'm having. Doing: % fink reinstall gzip is hanging at curl.

The library you're missing is from the xaw3d package. If you don't have
xaw3d installed, go ahead and do it.

What happens frequently (just had it happen to me earlier today): You
did 'rm -rf /usr/X11R6' or something equivalent as part of a
reinstallation of xfree86. Thereby you destroyed the files installed by
