Hello, I am wondering whether this is an OS X-specific quirk: A
recursive delete (as root) on a given directory via
# rm -rf /theDirectoryToBeDeleted
works, but the midnight commander keeps complaining that the directory
is not empty and refuses to go further.
bash-2.05a# mc --version

I don´t know is this OT ?
My Problem is this :
I like to have an icon from the editor VI on my aqua/quartz extreme
Desktop of Mac OS X 10.2
That i can start vi with double click...
or from the dock.
So how can i do this ?!?

After all, it worked. So, I moved to a new machine: I copied /sw to
the new machine, and performed the same steps as above. The process
hangs because gnome-games in its postinstallation script requires the
user games.games which does not exist in the new machine yet.
When I ask for a

Every so often when I open Gnome Terminal, I get the following
curious error message:
There has been an error trying to log in.
If you are using Linux 2.2.x with glibc 2.1.x, this is probably
due to incorrectly setup Unix98 ptys.
Please read
In bash,

\M is the meta key. I find that in Terminal.app, the meta key is
mapped to the Option key on the
keyboard, while in xterm it is the Command key (the 'apple' key). I'm

Martin,
Thanks for your reply, unfortunately by the time I thought to check my
mail, I had blown up my Xfree installation and reinstalled fink (I had
a lot of stuff leftover from 10.1). This time I have made it through
the compile of Xfree86, however, I am still trying to compile Nedit.
