I've tried reinstalling and updating a few times no
but to no avail. KDevelop says libkjava.1.dylib can't
be found. Sure enough, the lib isn't in my libs
directory with all the other lib* files. Google says
that libkjava.1.dylib should be included in KDELibs.

Good news: the performace is GREATLY improved, I would say. It comes
pretty close to the one of Linux version that runs on my ThinkPad.
