Hanspeter, Many thanks for the suggestion. I looked at developer.apple.com/downloads/ for Command Line Tools and the closest and most recent set of tools I found there that would compatible with the system I have is the one for OS X Lion (version 10.7.5)

There’s not a separate Qt mirror. What I really should have asked for was the MirrorOrder value from fink.conf. Your output below doesn’t show “try original source”, and that behavior is governed by MirrorOrder. Try using “fink configure --mirror” and select (2) Search “Master” source
