for the password. x11-ssh-askpass is never run.
Just to make sure it wasn't something peculiar with the way fink's ssh was
configured, I tried the above with /usr/bin/ssh as well. There was no joy
in Mudville there either.
What am I missing?

Benjamin Your dists symlink is right, is maybe Distribution set to
Benjamin 10.2 (instead of 10.2-gcc3.3) in your fink.conf or something?
Yes, that seems to have been the problem. fink selfupdate is now doing
some 'curls'...

I have no idea if fink can grab it from there or not. If not, I'll look at
creating a release.

... why can't I still use Fink in Panther and have it recognize that

Benjamin Because the compiler isn't the only thing that's changed.
Benjamin Many libraries and headers have changed since Jaguar.
Isn't sort that stuff out configure's job?
, yours was the first answer I recall seeing. Once I get done with the
massive side effect update-all caused by my switch to gcc 3.3, I'll get back
to gnumeric porting, of which this was a part.

figure if I'm burning all these electrons compiling this stuff maybe it's
time to consider switching.
I've been blissfully ignorant of what OroborOSX does on my behalf when I
start it. What do I need to do to switch over to an X environment which is
fully fink?

Disagreement between the list command and the file versions. Looking at the
info file I see:
Package: abiword
Version: 1.0.3
Revision: 12
This suggests a bug in the info file. Shouldn't the Revision be 2? (CC'ing
Jeffrey Whitaker, since he's the listed maintainer.)
Thanks,

/sw/bin/fink selfupdate
I will now run the rsync command ...
...
% egrep Revision abiword*info
Revision: 12
so the info file needs to be corrected in CVS.

Sorry, after reading the next message in the thread I realized the OP was

Thanks for the explanation of the distinction between the cvs and stable

he was referring to the unstable tree.
