Same failure results... No change at all even with the updated
Xcode.app. I did remove the fink patch package Are there
possibly multiple copies of them around?

In bash, type -a patch will show the locations of all of the patch
executables in your PATH. In tcsh, where patch will do the same
thing. If you have other patch
