My recollection is that under earlier versions of XFree86, /etc/X11 was a
real directory rather than a symbolic link, so you may have an older
installation that uses this directory. Try removing /etc/X11 and do the
install again.

The message is what it says: some part of X (like xinit) is still running.
Use ProcessViewer or ps to find the process(es) and kill it (them).

A similar problem came up before. One of the people who had it found that
there was a 10.1 version of Installer on his system, and it was getting
called instead of the 10.2 version. Is this a possibility in your case?

It's usually good to send your OS version, Developer Tools version, and
version of Fink.
You should probably provide more output: go back at least to the compiler
command just before the errors occurred.

My interpretation, as another user, is that Fink, DarwinPorts, and Gentoo
are going to exchange information about how to do the porting to Darwin,
within their own respective frameworks.

In fact, it is recommended that you do _not_ update to gcc 3.3.

There is an application called xcutsel that comes with XFree86 (i.e. you
should already have it). It lets you copy from X to Aqua and vice versa.
There's also the autocutsel package, which does the same thing, but is
automatic.
