New Orleans judge rules statute forbidding felons from having firearms
unconstitutional after 'fundamental right' amendment to state constitution.

There is a fundamental constitutional problem with this statute. Unless the zone
around the president is on non-state possession territory, or territory ceded
under the terms of U.S. Const. Art. I Sec. 8 Cl. 17, the federal government does
not have jurisdiction to do what they are attempting
, they should be acquitted.
There is at least a 10% chance that Congress had that understanding
when they drafted the statute. Or at least that their staffers did.
