Ignacio, according to a phone call I had yesterday with Flex they told me that
Power SDR will work fine with Vista 64 bit. It's just the Firewire Drivers
that is the problem. And that's because it is an unsigned driver. Mark KB3Z

I was thinking of putting in this 'Feature Request' and wanted to see if
there is some issue I might be missing first. Or if someone has a better
way.
I do a LOT of cw DXing, usually the DX station is operating split.
Most of the time the split isn't that wide, 3 to 6 kc or even less.
So if
Its not that we cannot test the program, I have. When you start up
Vista, you press F8 at boot time to go to the boot menu and select
the option that says to ignore unsigned drivers. This allows you to
boot up Vista x64 with the Flex driver. On my machine, you can use
PowerSDR for a random amount
I´m happy to hear this was a false alarm.
Now I have to ask the guy who explained me the reason why one of my
company´s software not working with Vista x64.

So Neal in a nutshell it will work if you can get Vista 64 to accept the
drivers if you can keep windows 64 from evicting it. I just wonder when one
updates Vista via Microsoft whether that reinstates the evicting part of the
progam. Mark KB3Z

I can't resist any longer and have to pull out the Ye Old' Soapbox
The root cause of the issues revolving around this driver issue are not with
the functionality of the FlexRadio FLEX-5000 Firewire 64-bit driver itself. It
is only confined to 64-bit Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008
Hello,
I've bought a Dell mini 9 ultra-portable for my daughter, and could'nt
resist to give it a try with my SDR1000. The cpu is an Atom 1.6 Ghz and
ram is 1 Gb. There is no Firewire, but as I am using Janus-Ozy for the
audio, it is not a problem here. PowerSDR is running fine, cpu usage
Man I wish I were in your shoes! The day mine arrived was one of the
best days I have had in the past 10 years.
Hope to hear you on the bands soon!

I bought an Astron RS-70M linear supply to use with my 5000a, but I'm
wondering
if a lower weight and amperage switching supply would be as or more
suitable?
Any comments and suggestions greatly appreciated.

I'm using an Astron SS-30M with mine, and it works just fine. No RFI that I can
detect, and that's comparing the receive when running on battery power vs the
SS-30M.

I personally despise switching power supplies. True, they can pack more
power in a smaller space. But if space isn't an issue, why bother with a
switching supply? They are next to impossible to repair, and can be noise
generators if not properly designed. The Astron linear power supply is a
I am using Astron 30 switchers with both my Ten-Tecs and Flex. No
