I have done a lot of testing over the last several weeks with the
HL-2.5 and DDUtil. Connecting the 2.5 in Kenwood mode works only if
connected directly to PSDR but not through DDUtil. Please note you must
switch pins 2 and 3. The HL-2.5 is polling every 40 msecs and hoses up

I have used the edgeport 4 port and 8port and both have worked very well.
You will need some ferrite beads to isolate the unit from RF if you use high
power. I wish I was associated with edgeport and if anyone wants to donate
stock, money, IRCs etc I will gladly take them.

I have both (proudly) but haven't used the 3000 enough to get a total
feel for it but
The 5000 definitely has a quieter rx. I do not know if you can really
tell the 5000 is more sensitive (although you know it is) but I can
tell its quieter.
