Hello,
I tried to search the data base on the subject of Scratchy Audio but I am not
having any luck.
I have a Flex 3000 using XP with an on board firewire. There is no more slots
available to add an extra Firewire card. I am using the 2.0.16 PowerSDR.
This is all used in my truck with a 10

Welcome to the wonderful world of DPC spikes. You will find that this is a

I've installed VSP and created virtual serial ports but they are not
talking
to the Flex the way they're supposed to. I
As long as SR (Spur Reduction) is turned off, the DDS in all three
FlexRadios
is tuned using all 32 bits of frequency resolution. The math and tuning
when SR is turned
on is totally different.

Very interesting about the SR function. I didn't even know I had one, and
still not sure what it does or why, so I will turn it ON to see what
difference it makes.

Thanks for your very informative review of the issue. Maybe we should
suggest FlexRadio staff have an internal

Normally spur reduction is on by default.

Ken,
You say it works ok with the 5000?Interesting..
You might want to make sure in your Control Panel = Add/remove programs
that you have the kb955408 HotFix loaded into your XP computer.
Also, take a look at your DPCs, Delayed Process Calls, with the DPC

I'm do not want to harm the front end of either of 2 radios, and we do
this all the time on Field Day, but I still have not figured out the
best way to avoid damage to the front end of any radio, receiving on 20

Hello and thank you.
I have not yet checked the hotfix, and the on board firewire could be an issue
with sharing data? I will check this as well. I appreciate all the help
because I would be lost without the 5000/3000 either in the shack or the
truck!!!
Thank you,

Not prudent until you measure actual RF voltage levels coming back
down the feedlines. Shoot for something less than 100 mV or so. You
probably won't damage anything at that level.
To get it down to that level, you can use coaxial stubs, bandpass
filters, and antenna separation. I am able to

Well, it looks like some of my assumptions were wrong. I ran a little test
on the VFO tuning resolution of the Flex-1500, and the DDS must be 'firing
on all 32 bits'!
Test Conditions: Flex-1500 in CWU mode with CW Pitch = 400Hz, External GPSDO
10MHz reference, and as antenna input test
