grounding and PC performance are distinct as they affect PSDR freezing,
You probably don't have a grounding problem, you probably are having latency
issues.

This is the final day of my largest sale of the year for FlexReady computers!
If you wait, you will not see this sale again for another year.

Question while waiting in a new Flex 5000
What provisions does it have to control the frequency of an HPA,
specifically a Tokyo HL-1.5KFX?

Many of us use DDUTIL to determine what band the
5000 is on and send out a BCD code to a parallel
port interfaced to the bandswitch on our amp. If
your amp can be controlled from a BCD ttl signal,
you can use DDUTIL in this way after making up a cable.

Jerry:
Thanks; No parallel port, and no BCD. The THP amps expect a Yeasu/Icom or
Kenwood to control, so the FLEX will need to emulate one of those
interfaces.

If you are not willing to use an intermediate
control program, then NO - you probably can't control it.
But others have probably used your amp with Flex - check the archives.
BTW, you can buy a plug-in card to provide both
serial and parallel ports in most desktop computers.

DDUtil will emulate the Kenwood protocol to a RS-232 port if you have one.
That's what I use.

Yes, RS-232 ports are do-able. It's the parallel ports that less.
Actually, I do see them on some of the more recent systems, on the CPU
board, but no connection/no connector on the case.

Hi Lester,
I am sure that DDUTIL can be used for running the Amp as I have seen
it as one of the options under the amp tab if I remember correrctly.
It WILL also run the ICOM interface at least for the AT-Auto antenna
tuner which I run here using the ICOM CI-V interface using a CHEEP
Radio Shack
I have a 5000A that has a second receiver. Running VAC 4.12 and PSDR 2.3.5
A while back on the list I saw a way to use VAC with both receivers to talk to
digi programs or CW Skimmer.
Can anyone point out to me how to set this up as I cannot find it.

Lester,You will definitely want DDutil between the Flex and your THP amp. In
addition to auto band control, you will probably want DDutil's Autodrive
functionality. The 5K does not use voltage control ALC, which is not
necessarily a bad thing. DDutil can set the 5K power level by band, so
Bert:
Thanks
Les
