I have a problem using PowerSDR (v2.7.2) on my laptop.
I have setup several virtual COM port pairs using com0com but when I try to
setup CAT control and PTT control, they are not in the drop down list of
available COM ports?
Can some one please explain why or what I am doing wrong?

Hi everybody,
After upgrading PSDR to v2.7.2, and consequentially updating the
firmware, My band plan is no longer Region 1 (I'm in the Netherlands).
The 80 meter band here runs from 3500 to 3800 kHz.
However, now PSDR calls it 75 meter, and it runs up to 4000.
Also 40m is twice as wide.
Does
I had that before 2.7.2 Rob
Shows US bandplan under the VFO frequency and band TX limits are wrong for

Rob,
The text that is displayed in the VFO areas is determined by the BandText
table in the database. It is not dependent on the firmware. The firmware
only controls where you are allowed to transmit.
1. Open the PowerSDR-DataTransfer utility. (Be sure you close PowerSDR
first.)
2. Select
Thanks for all replies!
I did the factory reset, but it didn't help.
I'll deal with the band text later because resetting would
erase the changes there, however I played with the data transfer utility
and after following Ray's instructions, I ended up with a greyed-out
replace tables-button.
Ooops, Tried the utility again, now I could indeed click onreplace tables,
and now the entire 40 meter band is indicated out of band.
Further the upper band limit (that was erroneously on 7400 kHz) is now
entirely gone.
Ill try to uninstall everything an start over (new D/L and all.
Cheers,
Interested in hearing about experiences with various receiving antennas
useful for input to Flex 6000 series radios (monitoring various band slices)
that are effective up to 30 Mhz, and possible 6 meters.
1.Magnetic Loop - better mounted low, or at top of tower, or doesn't
matter?

You may notice significant reduction in signal strength when using the K9AY
Loop System. You will also notice a significant improvement in the signal to
noise ratio. I have found that DX signals which are marginal copy on the TX
antenna ( a vertical ) are solid copy on the K9AY Loop System.
Johnnie,
What are you trying to do? There is no PowerSDR.xml file.

Ray,
I think Johnnie is trying to setup fldigi which calls for a PowerSDr.xml
file for Cat operation. Johnnie , the xml is on the fldigi site on the
download page about half way down, It is called RigCat Xmls. to the
right is xml archives. You will find what you need there.

GA Craig-- I had that happen in the past. If I remember correctly,
Windows OS enumerates or registers a given COM port for a given
application. Sometimes those don't get cleared. The new version can't
provide it as a choice, because the other application already has dibs
on it. In this
There is indeed, Ray, can be found on the FLDIGI site. I’ll send you a copy
off list, Johnnie
I also found the xml file for SmartSDR there this morning

You might also look into the Pennant antenna. I had a K9AY HB version up
and took it down in favor of the Pennant. I have two up, pointed NE and SW.

Works very well. Easy to install and you don't need any room.
And, it cuts down on the noise on the low end.

Since he did not mention FLDigi, I thought he was looking for a PowerSDR.xml
file used by PowerSDR. I didn't realize he was looking for a FLDigi rig
configuration file.

Hi Steve,
Jerry has solved my problem.
Thank you for your help
You must have installed an unsigned version of com0com. You MUST uninstall
com0com and install the signed version from this link
http://sourceforge.net/projects/com0com/files/com0com/2.2.2.0/ .
Use com0com-2.2.2.0x64-fre-signed.zip
Dave,
I have NOT played with the magnetic loop. I live in a rural subdivision on
a one acre lot so I have some room for antennas but little desire for more
than a tri-bander (TH-7) at 50 feet, a top loaded HF-2V with 160M-mod kit
and seasonally the K9AY loop system. I've had a TH-7 and HF-2V
Hi Gary
If you chat with the guys that run WSPR, they all use receiving loops of
some type for 80 and 160. From 14-28Mhz, you can use many choices as you
are not trying to get rid of atmospheric noises.

I've been dragging the PixelLoop to hamfests for a bit more than a year now and
I can't imagine a better compact receiving antenna. They JUST work, especially

I'm using the Pixel loop and I'm extremely happy with it. Due to local
noise, 160 has always been a challenge. Last year, after installing it I
picked up 5 new countries on 160' just because my other antennas were
receiving so much noise. It also works great for BCB DX'ing! Pricy, but

I just installed the Hi-Z 3-Element receive array a few weeks ago that I
got from DX Engineering and I'm very pleased with it. Mine is only 40 feet
per side to make it fit well in my yard and it's an incredible improvement
over my regular antennas on the lower bands, and it works great up to 30
All,
Normally I am the type of person that likes the latest and greatest software on
everything. I have been gun shy on upgrading my PSDR as after every release, I
sit back and watch the bug reports on the reflector. I am back at 2.3.5. For
the most part it works. Occasionally it starts to

Dave,
I have some comments on the Pixel. It is an excellent receive antenna under
certain
band conditions.
Pros:
First, it performs excellent on the AM commercial radio band. It cuts out all
buzzing
sounds when listen to 540-1700
Second. If you have an interfering station it will notch
When I upgraded PSDR from v2.6.4 to v2.7.2 for my F5000A + VU I was unable

No time at all. I upgraded from 2.6.x to the latest this afternoon in about 10
minutes or so. My setup is very simple, I don’t have it configured for digital
modes (yet). I elected not to import the previous “db”, so that reduced the
chance for error significantly.
