This is cool!! Apparently what I saw just b4 the end of May was a fault
caused by downloading an older data base. I didn't get to investigate it
as I sent my rig back for a minor repair that same day. My rig is on its
way back, so we shall soon see--.W8XO

I talked to Rob at some length about this, although I couldn't give him
a definite answer concerning the SDR-1000, except that I didn't seem to
notice the problem. He was some what intimidated by all the wires he had
to connect and that he had to buy them at RS. I know I got them all with

I agree, the SDR-5000 looks very, very good, top and bottom. Much better
I think than the SDR-1000. I was impressed with the plethora of

Thats what I did too. It froze up after 4 sec. Deleting all and starting
over did it. I have had to do this two or three times b4. Just be sure
and re do all your port connections, settings etc. Cpu usage is way down
with this version. It also sounds clean some how. W8XO

Just wondering what frequency tone to use for setting good overall
suppression. In the old days most phasing exciters used a 1000 or 1200
cycle tone. Is that a good idea with the sdr too? W8XO

As I said last night, it made a big difference here. The noise floor
dropped over 20db and the birdies every 10kc are gone. That is with one
of my verticals with no other tuning in line. The dipole does not have
that problem. On the vertical, with no tuning, WLW actually registers on
my SWR
I just down loaded it and its not working. The previous one removed all
the BC stuff, this one does nothing. Do I have to down load everything
again, or is there some bug. Being three miles from WLW I know if it
works, the old one worked very well. W8XO
I did it almost exactly like Frank described and got a very good null.
My best settings were at zero too. Test receiver was a TS-870. W8XO

Years ago I ran a plate modulated rig which had 5 watts of carrier and
about 300 watts of audio (W6QYT system) , it was very effective. As for
inverted audio, one of our bunch experimented with that too, it was
supposed to make tuning a DSB signal easer if you didn't have a
selective receiver.
Thanks Chris: BTW is there a time out function in the free program? I
notice it locking up after a few minutes. All I have to do is click on
it and it starts again. W8XO

I have finally taken the digital plunge. Have down loaded VAC and N8VB's

fiddling with the comport stuff caused some confusion and managed to
open a black hole in cyberspace. This black hole started a total memory

One of my 160 m antennas went over the top of a 90' tree. My KW burned
the leaves off the top. I also burned a guy wire in half once. Now I
always use insulated wire. In the old days the climbers down at WLW
would always touch the tower with a crescent wrench before grabbing
